Merida's cathedral
Merida's cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches in Venezuela, even in you can not find a specific architectonic line, since it has a mixture of styles.

The construction period lasted more than 150 years (1803-1960) a likely cause for its highly eclectic style; nevertheless, the building is considered as an outstanding architectural work whose graceful elegant design envelopes all the building.

The cathedral has beautiful glass-stained windows that color the interior with that peculiar illumination of classical churches. Its columns, arches, frescoes, ceiling make the building an architectonic jewel worthy of a visit, not just by devout Catholic devotees but also by art and architecture lovers.

Saint Clement's mortal remains donated by Pope Pio VI to Monsignor Candelo Torrijos, 2nd Merida's Archbishop in 1794.
