El Avila is with no doubts, what gives Caracas its charm. Since 1960 it was declared a national park for the enjoyment of all the inhabitants of Caracas. For instance, it is very popular to climb to "Sabas Nieves" (Altamira), where hundreds of people go every day for exercise. You can do the round trip in around one hour, walking two kilometers up and two down and climbing 400 meters.
