Chuao
Chuao nestles in Henri Pittier Park, right at the central coast. It is among the most picturesque Venezuelan villages, reachable mostly by boat since the land access is a difficult and long one. As a matter of fact, you can hardly count a dozen motor vehicles in the place.
This village has been widely known since Colony times for its top quality cocoa, which is highly reputed among chocolate gourmets and makers. On the way to the beach crops of this precious fruit can be observed.
As you come into the main square you can also see pods drying in the sun, making clear the important role cocoa plays in the domestic economy.
In the middle of the village, next to the church, a small museum exhibits examples of local folklore, handcrafts, and culture.
