One of the attractions you can’t miss in Margarita is the Marine Museum. This museum is in Boca de Río, in the peninsula of Macanao, very close to La Restinga.

Sea Turtle

“Cat-Shark”
Just alter the entrance, to the right there are some outdoor aquariums that have cat-sharks and sea turtles close enough to get a good look at them. We recommend not to try touching the shark, because a shark is always a shark.

Black Cachama

Cachúa
In a acclimatized and dark room, donated by the Fundación Polar, there are some illuminated aquariums with spectacular fishes of different colors. There are also some aquariums with corals.

Exploring the bottom of the Sea
In the stairs that lead to the upper floor there are two huge walls. One of them shows the different species that can be found on different depths. The other one shows the different gear used to explore the bottom of the sea.

Model of Cubagua

One of the museum’s room
In the rooms of the museum there are several very interesting exhibitions. There are all kinds of rooms, from an audiovisual room where they project some sea documental movies to rooms where they explain the fishing activity. There are also some rooms where they show dissected sea species and a new exhibition with an interesting model of Cubagua Island and the first city of Venezuela, Nueva Cadiz of Cubagua, which was destroyed by the sea and the pirates.
