Roraima, a journey that I will surely remember for a lifetime. Trekking to the top of this stunningly beautiful place was one of the most exciting and challenging trips I've ever done. My guide, made the trek fun, comfortable and informative with his vast knowledge of the area. Not only that, he was a great cook who could whip up a tasty meal in the most challenging of conditions, and then tell a good joke. I have never seen a place like Roraima, and will always remember its eerie terrain, strange rock formations and beautiful plants. It was a journey to a place that truly felt like the "Lost World," for which is has been nicknamed. Thank you for helping myself and my girlfriend have one of the greatest vacations ever. Sincerely Johnny DouglassWe would give a "both thumbs up" to Posada Los Cocos. Down a somewhat winding road among salt marshes, mangrove islands and humble dwellings we came upon Posada Los Cocos. It has beautifully landscaped grounds centered around what was originally a family vacation home with an expansive veranda. Some new separate structures have been completed with traditional architecture. These include some sleeping rooms and a large open-sided gathering space with a thatched roof, comfortable furniture, and hammocks. Everywhere there are interesting books and magazines. A new detached kitchen building is being constructed to free up more social or sleeping space in the main house. A pleasing fountain pool was in the center of the grounds. Though too small for laps it was a pleasant oasis for cooling off and getting rid of the salt after a hard day of surf and sun. The owners Enrque and his mother Esther were delightful well-traveled hosts with near perfect English in addition to their native Spanish. The ample staff kept everything spotless. Our meals were served outside under flowering trees with fresh cut flowers on the table. They apologized that their food was simple; not gourmet. However it was superbly prepared and by my humble standards it indeed was gourmet. Each day Enrique drove us about five minutes to the small marina with a big picnic cooler loaded with beer, soda, and lunches. He arranged our boat transportation to nearby beaches of choice. We chose a sea-side beach one day and a beach on the landward side of a large mangrove island the second day. Each had very white sand and clear turquoise water. The first provided great surf swimming and views of dramatic cliffs. The second provided a long shady palm covered beach with a coral reef and diverse colorful fish for good snorkeling. We made several activities very interesting and we ate specialities Warao and met the people. The camp was very nice and confortable.
