One of the most popular parks in Caracas is the "Parque del Este" (East Park). Even before dawn, there are joggers all around. With a beautiful view of the Avila, a small zoo, and artificial lagoons where you can row, its one of the best places to relax. It also has many animals which you can enjoy watching.

Botanic Garden
Located south of the preceding park, the "Jardin Botanico" belongs to Venezuela's central University. There you can see different vegetal species. It is an excellent place to enjoy a walk while you learn some botanic.
Gardens of the Simón Bolívar University
The Simon Bolivar University is not a park. However, it has one of the most beautiful gardens in the city. Its an ideal place to rest or to feed the ducks in the pond.
Los Chorros Park
Below the "Cota 1000", a highway that stands between Caracas and the Avila, you will find this beautiful park with water falls and a flavor of tropical rain forest.
Cuaricuao Zoo
The Caricuao Zoo, holds many animals from Africa and America. Many of them go free among the visitors, looking for the opportunity to have a snack.
El Pinar Park
Located in "El Paraiso", and recently refurbished, El Pinar is one of the children's preferred parks, because of the variety of its animals, and the "contact zone". A true oasis in the town. It also has a special zone where you can see different butterfly species.

El Avila is with no doubts, what gives Caracas its charm. Since 1960 it was declared a national park for the enjoyment of all the inhabitants of Caracas. For instance, it is very popular to climb to "Sabas Nieves" (Altamira), where hundreds of people go every day for exercise. You can do the round trip in around one hour, walking two kilometers up and two down and climbing 400 meters.
